Using Twitter reinforced my belief that micro-blogging is an important communication medium for burgeoning writers to understand it both theoretically and practically. For graduate students, this involves a thorough engagement with Twitter and the Twitter community.

I have found that engaging students in the activity of creating and interpreting a tag cloud of one of their own posts is an effective way to introduce students to the concept of tagging.

Netvibes, the RSS reader and information ecosystem that I have been using with my students has previewed ginger (to be released in January 2008), which has the much needed feature of social networking (which I hope will allow users to share ecosystems).

first snowfall

The first snowfall came to southern Jersey on Thursday, starting around 9:30am and ending around 11:00pm. About 3 inches in total. I, like many others I imagine, enjoy seeing how snow transforms the spaces we take for granted everyday. While walking around campus I snapped a few photos of Rowan Hall with my cell phone.
